What to do when you arrive.
It will not take long to set things up for your comfort:
Key - Get the key from Ray or Janet. If you get there and forgot to bring a key, call us and we'll tell you where and how deep to dig. One key opens the front door deadbolt, one key opens the door knob and a third key opens all of the basement locks.
Thermostat - Set for your comfort.
Basement Thermostat - Set for your comfort if you'll be spending time in the basement..
Water Pump - When not at
home,
we always disable the pump, so turn the pump on using the breaker panel in the basement. To open the breaker panel, push
the lid up (towards the ceiling), and then swing the bottom out.
BTW:
We have had the water tested for 30 nasty chemicals, and it is very good water.
The water softener corrects hardness and a little (non-harmful level of)
magnesium.
Water Faucets - In Winter, we leave every faucet open, including the ones in the basement, but not including the hydrants outside. The reason is to prevent damage in case of a freeze. When you turn the pump on, go around the house and close each faucet as soon as the air is cleared out.
Water Heater - We leave this turned off when the trailer is unoccupied. Turn on at the breaker panel in the Utility room. Be sure to run the hot water until it is air-free before you turn the water heater on.
